Rumour: Microsoft and Epic Games may follow the same path as Microsoft and Bungie

Gears of War is was a hit game from the beginning. Capable of many things; it had great graphics for its time. It was a perfect fit for the Xbox 360, and gamers couldn't get enough. Now that little Epic had gotten bigger it is thinking of splitting and making games for different consoles. How would true Xbox fanboys like myself react to the news? If I heard that Gears was going to PS3 I would be devastated, and I am sure others would feel the same. I have been a long time player of Gears and I want it to remain an Xbox exclusive. How would you feel if how would you feel if Gears or another Epic game was multiplatform?

Xbox 360 vs Playstation 3

With many arguments about Xbox and PS3, I am going to help solve this problem with this post. I think that Xbox is slightly better, but I am going to go over the good things and bad things about them. The Xbox 360 has many good features and bad features. The Xbox has exceptionally better and more games than the PS3 has. It also has a great controller that is much better than the controller for PS3. Xbox also has pretty much the same graphics as PS3 that reaches 1080p. The Xbox has other bad qualities, and they are known to happen. Some of them are overheating, E74 error(1 red ring), and the 3 rings of death.

The PS3 has many great qualities and bad qualities. The PS3 has better graphics(blu-ray) than the Xbox 360. PS3 has a good controller, but the Xbox has a better one. On the PS3 you are able to use bluetooth accessories, put your own web cam, stream videos, replace the hard drive with a laptop hard drive, and it is a blu-ray player. The PS3 also has bad features, but the are known not to happen as frequent as the Xbox 360. These errors consist of the yellow light error and overheating. Another issue is that the controller's battery is not accessible, therefore it is not replaceable. There may be other problems, but they are not well known.

Also, both consoles have a online multiplayer; Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. PSN is free and Xbox live is not. One can do more over Xbox Live, however when it comes down to the gaming they are the same. However there has been rumors going around about a paid subscription for PSN; to read further into this click here Therefore, I would go with PSN because it is free.

It is clear that both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are even.

16-year-old World of Warcraft youth finds a 'soulmate' twice his age

I would like to take a moment to thank Blizzard for creating World of Warcraft. Not for making the world's most popular MMO, as you may imagine; rather, for making possible bizarre stories like this one, which could only exist in a post-WoW world:

When a 16-year-old boy, of Ontario, Canada, asked his parents to drive him to a hotel to meet the 42-year-old mother of four he'd developed a relationship with inside WoW, they understandably balked. The kid nevertheless absconded in the middle of the night, prompting his parents to discover a wealth of chat logs that detailed the nature of the relationship. "He said she was his soulmate," his mother told The Globe and Mail.

Now, before you worry about the outcome of the young lad's safety, know that he was found two days later in a Future Shop with Ms. Price -- the cougar in this sordid tale -- who "will not face criminal charges," thanks to Canada's age of consent: 16. "Neither the teen or Ms. Price expressed any remorse," said a local police sergeant.

Unsurprisingly, the boy has had problems with computer addiction (specifically WoW), while Price's Facebook page "reveals a middle-aged woman with a large collection of friends -- many made online," the Globe and Mail notes. And while this situation ended safely (albeit, not happily ever after for the soulmates), we'll take this opportunity to remind everyone to be cautious when talking with strangers online. Especially if they graduated college before you were born.

Update: Well, it looks like she has been charged. The CBC reports that Price was arrested upon her return to Texas, where the age of consent is 17. She's being charged with "two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of child enticement." Bail is set at $310,000.

Nintendo’s Iwata Says Wii Zelda in 2010

Nintendo aims to release the new Legend of Zelda game for Wii in 2010, company president Satoru Iwata said Wednesday.

In an interview with the Asahi Shimbun, Iwata said that the recent release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii has reenergized flagging Wii sales in Japan, and that Nintendo would aim to release more games that will keep the momentum going. To that end, Nintendo will announce a game this July that will use the Vitality Sensor controller that Iwata showed at last year’s E3, and release Zelda by the end of the year.

The new Legend of Zelda will use the Wii MotionPlus controller add-on.

Iwata also said that Nintendo is currently developing a successor to the Nintendo DS that will feature higher-resolution graphics and a motion sensor.

At E3, Nintendo said that Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M would be released in 2010. I highly doubt that Nintendo will release all three of these major games in every territory in one calendar year.

At the very least, we could see a repeat of 2002, in which Super Mario Sunshine was released worldwide, Metroid Prime shipped in the U.S. only and Zelda debuted in Japan only.

That seems to be the best-case scenario, though. If one game was delayed into 2011 for all territories, I wouldn’t be shocked at this point.

Then again, maybe Iwata really is serious about firing all cannons and keeping the momentum going. After all, it’s not as if there are that many big years left in the console lifecycles anyway: 2010 will be Wii’s fifth Christmas.

Man charged after selling mom's Wii for alcohol and cigarettes

This has gotta be one of the funniest stories is have every read. Christmas is long gone, which means that the spirit of giving has been replaced by far more important spirits -- namely the spirit of taking, the spirit of drinking and the spirit of being a stupid dick. A 23-year-old man from Spring Hill, Florida stole his mother's Wii and sold it, all for the want of some booze and smokes. Delightful.

Of course, Christopher Bayko wasn't exactly a master criminal, and somehow expected to get away with stealing a game console from right under his mother's nose. When questioned about the missing Wii, which was now sitting comfortably in a pawn shop, Bayko claimed it was at a friend's house. We'll never know how long he planned to keep that pretense up, because the moron left a receipt lying around the house that disproved his lie.

Oh, and the best part? He sold the Wii for a whopping $56.

New Army of Two trailer previews multiplayer modes

So, okay, Army of Two: The 40th Day is kind of the definition of a multiplayer mode: "All co-op, all the time." But on top of the constant comradery of the core campaign, this sequel also features several traditional multiplayer modes inspired by other popular multiplayer games.

This latest trailer chronicles the classic struggle between the colors Red and Blue across the game's four muliplayer modes: Warzone, Co-op Deathmatch, Control, and Extraction.

EA producer predicts cheaper games ... more premium extras

EA Canada's Jason DeLong told Game Informer that he expects to see games become cheaper in the future, at least per initial investment. "I think that we're going to start to see -- maybe not in the next year, but in the near future -- games go down the route of smaller up-front experiences and lower prices at the beginning," DeLong said, "and then the ability to extend the game through episodic material or future feature material. I think that's a direction we're probably heading in."

So that doesn't mean that games will be cheaper, in the long run -- it means that DeLong sees the potential total price of a game spread between a disc or initial download and follow-up expansions. It's sort of like what EA and BioWare are already doing with Dragon Age: Origins -- except Dragon Age sells for $60 to start. DeLong added that keeping people playing in the current economy is "going to be an interesting creative problem for us to solve." So then, problem solved?

In my opinion cheaper games would be great! 59.99 and some times 69.99 for games is way too much I would love to see cheaper prices.

Nintendo shuts down Zelda fan film, four years in the making

A few weeks ago, the fruits of four years of labor finally paid off for independent film studio BMB Finishes when its Zelda-based movie, The Hero of Time, was released for public consumption over the internets. Reaction to the film was mixed, but it seemed like everyone appreciated the 1,460 days of hard work that went into the feature-length film's creation. Apparently, that's not the case -- the movie's official site was updated on New Years Day, explaining that the studio had come to an agreement with Nintendo to stop distributing the film online.

The update sounds less miffed than you might imagine, stating, "we understand Nintendo's right to protect its characters and trademarks and understand how in order to keep their property unspoiled by fan's interpretation of the franchise, Nintendo needs to protect itself - even from fan-works with good intentions." The missive jokingly ends by saying, "I'm sure our next project will be right around the corner! No, it's not Majora's Mask." Yeah, that would be ridiculous. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, seems like a logical choice.

Final Fantasy XIII sales plunge in Japan

According to unofficial sales numbers from Japan, Final Fantasy XIII has fallen down to number four on the sales list over there, after a very big million-plus release day and a record-breaking first week. But otaku take heart: even though sales of the game dropped over a million units in the second week, this wasn't unexpected.

Final Fantasy games always tend to take a dip after the "day one purchase" audience gets their copies. The last iteration of the series took a 1.5 million unit hit in week two. But even with the lower sales, about 200,000 copies were traded for the appropriate cost in yen, which indicates Square Enix is likely still on track to meet or exceed its six million target worldwide. That's a lot of chocobos.
